No. At least that is what the CEO of Crytek, Cevat Yerli, said. What he DID say, however, it is possible to port the game over to the consoles. He later goes on to say, “Theoretically, anything could run anywhere.” Which is true. Any game can be dumbed down enough to play anywhere, in theory. Of course it may take more effort than it would ultimately be worth, but possible none-the-less.
Cevat Yerli then confirmed that there is STILL no plans to port the game over to consoles. Sorry console fanboys, but this is one game you might not get to play despite the “overwhelming” power of your cell processor, pfft.

So rumour on the street is that a leaked musical score, being played by the Video Games Live Concert at BlizzCon, has unveiled Blizzard’s big new secret. What is that secret? A Northrend expansion! You heard it right; on the score sheet for the orchestra their is three songs titled: Northrend 1, Northrend 2, and Northrend 3. None of these songs are found anywhere in Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, or WoW which means it can only mean one thing, new songs! Although it IS highly likely that these songs serve just that purpose, to make a song based on Northrend but don’t tell that to any WoW fanboy. I suppose we will all find out when BlizzCon rolls on by.

Epic’s VP head honcho, Mark Rein, has put his foot down on where he thinks the future of PC gaming will end up. It’s not a pretty place, either. According to Mark, he thinks PC games will end up being anchored with the same graphical quality that consoles use. Unfortunately, he makes a good point too.
“Publishers are generally putting their money where the highest return is, and in the past that’s been on consoles and I think that’s still the case. So if you build the game that’s a really super amazing high-end game, how do you make all the money you could make from that game, because it’ll be too high end eventually to be on PS3 or Xbox 360,” Mark Rein.
Ouch, that stings. Don’t fret just yet though, Mark may be right, however there will always be companies who develop games simply to push the systems to the max, like Crysis (which is NOT coming to consoles). Good thing too, I wouldn’t want all those brand new DX10 cards to go wanting.

P.S. Yes my title is a brilliant pun. . .
MindArk, the people behind the hit MMO Entropia, has just liscenced the brand new Crytek 2 Engine for use with their next project: Entropia Universe. MindArk is hoping to make this the most realistic virtual world ever and using an engine as powerful as Crytek 2 is the way to do it.
For those that do not know, Entropia, is a free2play massively multiplayer virtual world (kind of like Second Life, but sci-fi) where the economy is run off of real money. Every dollar you make in the game can be transferred into real money. In turn, you can transfer real money into game money. It has its own, sustainable economy, which has been profitable since 2004. Let’s hope they can do justice to this amazing game engine.

So I had originally planned to just give you guys the usual speel of what is being released this week, but seriously there is nothing. Nothing worth playing anyways. My suggestion is to hold on to your wallets a bit longer until some of these games we have been promised begin to drop into stores. Anyways, instead of giving you guys this week’s releases I have decided (courtesy of IGN) to give you guys this year’s Holiday line-up of games. Not all on my page of course, you can see em all at the link at the bottom, however, I will be highlighting the great ones.

So, after hearing and writing about the Matrix Online Buddy key giveaway I decided to give the game a shot. After all, it’s free for 2 weeks. As it turns out, finding one of these mythical keys was harder than I had thought. After a few days of not finding a key I decided to just plop down the $19.99 on Direct2Drive and buy the game. I’ll get an extra 2 weeks to play the game and I’ll be able to write a review here on the website. All’s well that ends well right? No. Apparently, Vista has been having some pretty major errors with this game. First off in order to get the launcher to. . . launch you HAVE to be running off the admin name. Second you HAVE to go into the properties of the launcher and fiddle with some options. Detailed instructions will be given later today on how to fix this error should any of you ever encounter it.
EDIT: Direct2Drive was not responsible for this error, therefor the blog has been changed accordingly. Sorry for any inconvenience. No word on how widespread the Vista-error is, although after checking a few forums it is clear that it is a reoccuring problem amongst many people.

Kicks off this automn with their first episode! I swear the guys over at TellTale Games don’t know the meaning of the word sleep, or break. Which, as it turns out, is good for us. Sam & max has single handedly revived curiosity in the adventure game genre which perished almost 7 years ago. There is good reason for that revival too, the game is funny, sharp, and very witty. The puzzles are hard but not overbearing and the animations are excellent. Seriously, is there any reason why it took so long to get this game out in the first place? Also, when can we expect a new Secret of Monkey Island to get released?
For those that have yet to play this work of genius, you can download the games via Steam, or if you have a GameTap account you can get them there. Enjoy the screenie aboove cause it is the only one we are getting for a while.

Seriously, CodeMasters makes some of my very very favorite games. So when I first heard that GameTap and Codemasters signed a multi-year contract to release their games via GameTap, day and date with their release, I was super excited. This is EXCELLENT news. Throughout the lifetime of my blog my opinions on GameTap have been somewhat drab. However, their service is getting better and better and very very soon it will be totally worth it.
Overlord, a critically acclaimed awesome game, will be launching on the service next month. Following that will be DiRT, Clive Barker’s Jericho, and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. I can’t wait. GameTap continues to impress me.

So this isn’t really PC gaming “news” per say, but it is PC related and it has to do with me so I am writing about it anyways. You’ll live, I promise. In any case, we finally finished putting together my brand new PC this morning at around 3am. I have, for the past month, been buying upgrades. Eventually the upgrades became so much that I was basically just buying a new computer, which is fine by me. After putting it together last week, we learned that the PSU was a dud, and I ended up having to go out and buy a new one. Oh well. Check out the specs below:
- Asus AMD Motherboard
- AMD Athlon FX2 5600
- 4 GBs of RAM
- ATI MSI HD 2900XT video card
- 250 GB HDD (I don’t need that much space)
- Brand new 24″ Acer widescreen monitor
- 700w ULTRA PSU
The system runs at 1980 x 1200 resolution, flawlessly. It is an amazing system. What makes this even sweeter is that Quake Wars gets released next week followed by Bioshock a couple weeks later. I can’t wait to give them both a spin. Sorry I forgot to take pictures.
So Splinter Cell: Conviction was delayed, huh? Interesting news. Ya, I was totally looking forward to playing this game this holiday. Cause you know I have an infinite amount of money along with an equally infinite amount of hours to waste away on video games. Too bad. . . now I’ll actually have something good to play Jan-March of 08′ unlike most years.
Seriously, though, this isn’t bad news. There were already WAY to many games coming out this holiday season. I won’t even be able to play a quarter of them all. *tear* So it is with a light heart that I announce that this game has been delayed until early 2008. Apparently, Ubisoft is planning on giving this game the “star treatment”. All of the bugs will, hopefully, be worked out before release unlike their last rendition, Double Agent.
