Today I bring you a game that is looking to be one of this year’s most under-appreciated games. Seriously the has gotten almost no coverage within the mainstream gaming media, which is sad because the game looks brilliant. Being developed by CDProjekt, in association with Atari (eek!) and BioWare (hurrah!), the game is poised to deliver one of the most complete RPGs on the PC this year.
The game is promising an immense world filled with cities, castles, hundreds (if not thousands) of NPCs to interact with, and a lot of quests. There really isn’t anything I can’t tell you that the video won’t show. So go check it out! Screenies below.

All I can say is. . . finally. You see, Turbine has themselves a very good, polished game on their hands. Unfortunately, gamers don’t want to spend $50 on something that still has a VERY good chance of not being what they wanted. You see MMORPGs are very different, and different people like different MMORPGs. Its just how things go. So now the gamers have nothing to worry about thanks to this brand new 7-day completely free trial. Just goto the website and sign-up.
In addition to the trial, Turbine has also let loose some other juicy tidbits of information on the game, one being that there are currently 4 million characters in the game. While that is not an exact number of subsciptions, it definitely aludes to their being “a lot” of players. Screenies below.

SOE has released there next big update for the once-thought dead MMO, Matrix Online. There is nothing really earth-shattering about this update but at least the game is getting some love, y’know? In any case the game at least has a solid following of players to enjoy this new content.

The title pretty much says it all. On Setpember 25th, EA is releasing the Crysis demo available to every PC gamer who has a powerful enough machine to play it. The demo holds the entire first level, and, supposedly, there is going to be a huge surprise for whoever downloads the demo. Sounds neat. Lets see, only 28 days left and we get to play it! I am as giddy as a schoolboy.

Sorry this weeks games edition is a day late. Yesterday was a very stressful day for me so I must have forgot about it. No matter the new releases for this week are STILL new releases. This week’s biggest title is probably Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms expansion or the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Expansion. Bother have gotten high preview remarks. All in all this week is pretty solid. Check out the releases below:
Not too shabby eh? Anybody planning on giving that newly revamped UO a try? I am intruiged but I am not sure if I am ready or willing to plop down any money for it. Also Operation Wintersun looks like it could be interesting, as well as Pirate’s Revenge. A couple indy titles, but that doesn’t mean they are bad, right? Enjoy!
Gabe Newell, head honcho of Valve, sat down with some of the guys from Kotaku and shared with him his ideas about their next game, Half Life 2 Ep. 2, as well as his thoughts about the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the PC gaming platforms. To put it simply, the PC is the only one that got a passing grade.
“I love the PC,” [Gabe Newell] said. “It’s a great platform. The Internet capabilities are much more mature and the graphics you find on consoles are essentially derivative of the PC and sales on the PC are great.” BLAM! Take that consoles! I told you we would still be around for a while.

Just a reminder, E For All, Los Angeles’ newest video games convention, will be here in late October. I’m not one to pitch things but this is definitely one convention you may want to attend, if for nothing else other than to make my life easier. You see, it is far easier for me to attend this as I live only 20 minutes away. So please attend, I’ll be there!
In other E for All news, Microsoft today has announced they will not be making the trip. Bummer, I know. However, there are already several top-notch gaming companies going anyways. Nintendo, EA, Konami, THQ, Namco/Bandai, etc have all signed on to put on a great show for us. Maybe we can get some play-time with Spore. . .

Wow. . . you know despite all these issues that BioShock has been having on the PC (360 as well but they are less important) it is quite nice to see a company responding to quick. Normally, as a PC gaming community, we’d be stuck haggling and harrassing the company until finally a minor patch got issued a month later which still didn’t solve any major issues. If we are lucky it usually only takes a good 6 months for a company to work out all of the bugs in their “released” version. In any case, kudos to 2k, we really appreciate your quick responses to this matter.

Remember that brand new MMOFPS that SOE is developing? I think it was called the Agency, or something like it. Well the name doesn’t matter because it is the unqiue style of gameplay that does. The game seems to be taking a far right from where most MMOs seem to be headed and it’s looking good too. That is why today’s news is so. . . unexpected.
Apparently, announced at the Leipzig Games Conference in Germany, Sony has stated that the Agency is being planned to be a Free2Play game. This is something SOE has never done before and quite frankly makes me worry about the overall quality of the game. According to GameSpot, the game will instead be handled by microtransactions and extra pay2play content. Will it be a success? I hope so as a lot of people already don’t like SOE, this could cost them a lot.

Like many of you, a couple days ago I rushed out and bought BioShock. I mean come on, it has been getting awesome review scores left and right preceded by an even MORE awesome demo. The game is great, it is beyond great. If there IS art in videogames (there is) then it definitely shows in BioShock. This is, unfortunately, where the good praise ends as the community let out an uproar on Tuesday when they recieved their buggy games (PC and 360 alike).
Even yours truly was hit by the mighty wrath of bugs, although luckily for me mine was centrally located towards my ATI card rather than the game itself. To make it worse, it appears there was SO much traffic on the BioShock support site that it crashed preventing anyone, myself included, from downloading the necessary patch to play the game. Finally, this morning, after downlaoding everything I actually launched my game and it was running PERFECTLY, just before I had to rush off to work. *sigh* Woe is me.
