BioWare/LucasArts New Project!

kotor.JPGSo, a couple days ago LucasArts and BioWare came out and announced that they were working together, again, on a new unnanounced project. Naturally, millions around the world over took this to mean that they were making an MMORPG based off their Knights of the Old Republic game. I don’t think so. You can read why I don’t think so HERE.

So what could this possibly mean? Naturally there are a few franchises that LucasArts owns that BioWare could take full advantage of the most obvious being the Star Wars franchise, again. Could they possibly be making a Knights of the Old Republic 3? Yes, however they could also equally be making a game based on Lucas’ other hit franchise, Indiana Jones. The fourth movie is in production now so they may be wanting to release a hit game along with the movie. Of course my guess is as good as yours. I’m just throwing ideas about.

New PC Games this Week! Halloween Edition

hglgfwpftfron1tboxart_160w.jpgExciting week this time around gamers! Not only do we have my personal pick for the month hitting the streets this week, Hellgate: London, but we have 4 other sure-to-be great titles also hitting the shelves. This week officially starts what is going to be the most video game packed month in years. Seriously, November is gonna be packed. Anyways onto the list:

Nice list huh? I already have Hellgate: London pre-ordered so that one I’ll definitely be playing on Thursday (got big plans on Halloween, I’m afraid). In addition to Hellgate: London I also plan on picking up The Witcher, which looks amazing and then if their is time (and money) TimeShift, whose demo was actually very fun. All in all its a good week for PC gamers. Enjoy the feast.

Crysis Demo Unleashed!

crysis-box-art.jpgWhen I say unleashed I seriously mean unleashed. The game’s demo was recently released (on Friday) and over the weekend I decided to give it a test run. The download is big, first off, about 1.8 gbs big. Also you’ll need a very powerful computer to get this game running properly. Don’t be fooled by the minimum specs, this is a hardware testing game, and it shows.

I cant comment much on the demo, thats for you guys to find out yourself, however I will say that the graphics far surpass anything I have ever seen a game do, whether it was on the PC, or a console. The sheer amount of detail in the game was awe-inspiring. At times I’d find myself just staring vacantly at the distant mountains looking at all the detail. All of this was on the medium graphic settings too. Not even my custom-built gaming PC could run the game in all it’s glory.

If there is ONE demo you are gonna try this year make it Crysis. The game was absolutely a blast. The AI is very smart, and the game is very challenging. There are no “levels”, the world is open and you are free to roam around as you please completing your objectives. No FPS gamer will be disappointed by Crysis.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars patch 1.2

quakewars1.jpgIs almost available! It is actually so close I can smell taste see it on the horizon waiting there to fix our multiplayer FPS rompings. This patch is actually a very very good thing, as when the game launched there were more than a few bugs that needed to be addressed (despite it still recieving favorable review scores). Coming with the patch are:

  • Full voice communications support w/ full USB headset support as well.
  • Better game balancing where the pistol and blaster will have increased accuracy and the shotgun and nailgun will have increased firing rates among otherthings.
  • Refined Fireteams and Stopwatch mode.
  • User interface improvments including “softening” up the Instant Messaging client and adding more features to the server browser.
  • Upgrades the bots so theya re more enjoyable to play with.
  • Hundreds and hundreds of bug fixes.

Just to name a few. As you can see this is one serious patch and hopefully will make the game shine that much more brightly in an already dark sea of FPS games.

Check out the full patch notes HERE.

Crysis Demo Countdown!

crysiscountdown01.JPG

Just happened upon this! Over on the official unofficial Crysis Demo website is a nice countdown that is slowly  ticking down to the very second when we can download the demo of one of the most anticipated games to ever come out on the PC. Exciting stuff, really.

For those who don’t remember the demo was delayed from September to October 26th. Anyways its probably nothing. Download the demo tonight (or should I say tomorrow morning?).

Check out the countdown HERE.

UPDATE: This is NOT an official page from Crytek or EA games. Apprarently its just a fanpage. Sorry for any minconceptions about the demo. . . Enjoy it tomorrow when it launches.

Play Spore in 6 Months?

spore001.GIF

Could it be true? Is there actually a possibility that we will be playing Spore in as early as 6 months? To be honest, I am skeptical, but that may just be because the game has been in development for roughly 8 years now and its last 5 or so release dates have been delayed. Seriously the game has to come out sometime right? Right?

In anycase, Will Wright, famed developer behind the SimCity and Spore games, has, in an interview with Radio 5 Live, annoucned that the game is in the testing phases and should be ready to go in 6 months or so. Which is you recall the game’s latest delay had already pushed it back to around Arpil of 08′ so there should really be no surprise here. Once again. . . hope for the best but expect a delay.

Hellgate: London Subscriber Perks

helgatelondon02.jpg

For those of you who have been patiently waiting for Hellgate: London to come out you probably also know about their upcoming “subscriber” service. The game will be free, totally and completely. There is nothing that comes shipped with the retail mode of the game (story/skill wise) that you won’t have access to if you don’t feel like paying, however, there are some perks to laying down the $10/month charge. Some of them seem like it would be worth it but then others, like the achievements, seem a little. . . bleh.

In anycase check out the full list after the jump. Read more

New PC Games this Week! 10/21/2007 Edition

jeri_pack_pc_us_rgbboxart_160w.jpgNew week, new games. Blah blah blah. . . we should all know the drill by now. Every monday I post the brand new spanking games you’ll be able to enjoy on your PC and this week we have a couple good’uns and a couple bad’uns. Take em or leave em. Enjoy the list below:

Not sure if I’ll be picking anything up this week. Obviously the strongest title is Jericho and it does look fun but still I’m not really feeling it, y’know? In anycase the 2 xpacs we have this week will surely sell to those who loved the original games. Enjoy!

I’m BACK!

eforall.jpgHey guys, sorry I haven’t posted anything in a few days. I have been at E for All in Los Angeles. Normally in those situations I’d end up just writing news at night but I was so tired each day that I usually just crashed.

In any case, I am back and will begin the normal schedule. There were some really really neat things that were showcased at E for All and I’ll be writing about those in a bit.

Zero Punctuation Reviews The Orange Box

And he LOVES it! Well love is a strong word. He generally liked Episode 2 and thought Team Fortress 2 was a very polished game. However, the whole love affair between ZP and The Orange Box comes straight from Portal. He absolutely had nothing bad to say about the game and even admitted that he loved it. Shocking words coming from the man who it seems hates every videogame ever created (except for Half Life 2 apparently). In anycase the video is well worth the watch. Enjoy!
