Shocking news hit us yesterday. Well not to terribly shocking to PC gamers, this was much more shocking to consoles. In any case, EA bought BioWare/Pandemic studios yesterday. While both of those companies are much more prominent in the console industry nowadays they have given us PC gamers quite a selection of games in the past, most famous of which was probably Knights of the Old Republic.
The amount EA bought the two studios is said to be at or just about $800 million. No telling what will happen to the two studios, although knowing EA, they will be forced to multiplat every one of their games to every system known to man. Mercenaries 2 port for NeoGeo anyone?

That absolutely sucks. Anytime EA buys a company, the releases seem to suffer. Westwood is a great example. As is DICE.

Ya I hear ya. . .
EA isn’t exactly the most “videogame-friendly” company out and about. Although, I will give it them that ever since they acquired Mythic, the Warhammer Online game has been looking better and better.
BioWare is definitely one of those companies I wish had remained independent, however.
