DELAYED: Assassin’s Creed (PC)

assassinscreed001.jpg

Well it’s been confirmed. . . Assassin’s Creed will be delayed for the PC. Why? Who knows, to be quite honest Ubisoft doesn’t give to craps about our gaming platform. Their games are always riddled with bugs and constantly delayed for what seems like no good reason. It is so sad.

The PS3 and 360 versions of Assassin’s Creed are still on target to be released this November, however our own version will not be released until sometime in early 08′. No exact date is given.

Delayed: Mercenaries 2

mercenaries-2-world-in-flames-20070528093924390-000.jpgEA, in a statement sent out yesterday, has confirmed that Pandemic’s much-anticipated shoot-em-up-explosion game Mercenaries 2 has been delayed to a terntative Q1 2008. *tear* I know it sucks, but lets face it guys this holiday season (even with all the delays) is still grossly packed with games. Q1 is typically a slow period so with all these games gettingdelayed until then perhaps we will have a nice new year as well as holiday.

In any case, the game looks amazingly fun, and I can’t wait to see how many extra “booms” they pack into the game in between now and when the game ships next year.

The Mafia 2 Announced

mafia2.jpgToday, 2K Games has announced that they are publishing a sequeel to one of the most mediocre games I have ever played. Seriously the game reaked of so-so-ness. However, a lot of the problems the first game suffered through was do to underpowered hardware at the time. You just couldn’t generate the kind of 1940s city-scape with that kind of power.

The game  will, obviously, take place in the 1940s-1950s era of Mob styled law. It should actually be a breath of fresh air when compared to all the modern “GTA” type adventure games. Although it begs the question: isn’t Rockstar (also a subsidiary of Take2 along with 2K) making a 1940s open world adventure game? Something called La Chat Noire or something loike that, I honestly can’t remember.

Sam & Max Season 2. . .

sam-and-max-season-2-screenshot_large.jpg

Kicks off this automn with their first episode! I swear the guys over at TellTale Games don’t know the meaning of the word sleep, or break. Which, as it turns out, is good for us. Sam & max has single handedly revived curiosity in the adventure game genre which perished almost 7 years ago. There is good reason for that revival too, the game is funny, sharp, and very witty. The puzzles are hard but not overbearing and the animations are excellent. Seriously, is there any reason why it took so long to get this game out in the first place? Also, when can we expect a new Secret of Monkey Island to get released?

For those that have yet to play this work of genius, you can download the games via Steam, or if you have a GameTap account you can get them there. Enjoy the screenie aboove cause it is the only one we are getting for a while.

Conviction: Delayed

splintercellconviction001.jpgSo Splinter Cell: Conviction was delayed, huh? Interesting news. Ya, I was totally looking forward to playing this game this holiday. Cause you know I have an infinite amount of money along with an equally infinite amount of hours to waste away on video games. Too bad. . . now I’ll actually have something good to play Jan-March of 08′ unlike most years.

Seriously, though, this isn’t bad news. There were already WAY to many games coming out this holiday season. I won’t even be able to play a quarter of them all. *tear* So it is with a light heart that I announce that this game has been delayed until early 2008. Apparently, Ubisoft is planning on giving this game the “star treatment”. All of the bugs will, hopefully, be worked out before release unlike their last rendition, Double Agent.

Oranges

Not to much news here in this blog, but a whole lot of eye candy! Yesterday IGN posted a video trailer for Valve’s much anticipated Orange box.  In the orange box you will recieve HL2 Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and the first person puzzle shooter: Portal. After watching this video I must say this is a fantastic way to market these three wonderful looking games. They make you feel like you are really getting your moneys worth with their Orange box combo. Now we just need to wait and see if the games will be worth the hype. Look for Orange Box in your local store come early October well those of us in the US anyways.

E3: Gears of War PC Additions Remain Exlcusive!

gearsofwarpc.JPG

So, according to Advanced Media Network, in an interview with Mark Rein (head honcho at Epic), he confirmed that the PC additions to Gears of War will REMAIN exlcusive, at least for the time being. It was actually Cliffy B. who semi-confirmed that. Is it just me or am I the only one taking this as good news? The guys over at Xbox360fanboy are dismally distressed by this news but you know what? They got the game a year before we did. Its about time we PC gamers got some exclusive love. Look for this game on PC when it launches later this year.

E3: Hellgate London

helgatelondon02.jpg

So, I have some bad news; Flagship Studios did not take any time during this E3 to drop any new information about Hellgate: London. Well at least nothing earth shattering. They did allow a playable demo as well as dropped a couple new screenies, which I have here. The demo, apparently, is a blast. It is exactly how you all were hoping Diablo 3 to be: fast, fun, and in 3D. This is all not mentioning how challenging it is at the same time, literally there are thousands of monsters in just one dungeon.  The game will also be featuring Diablo 2’s skill tree system which I am very excited about. The idea of every class acting and looking the same bores me so this will be refreshing.

The game is preparing for its launch later this year and will be one of the star children for our platform. Be sure to pick it up! One (1) screenie below.

E3: Gears of War CONFIRMED for PC!

gearsofwarpc.JPG

As many of you probably already know, it was a pretty much a fact that Gears of War was coming to the PC. Well I have just finished with the E3 Microsoft Press Conference and I am now telling you that it is CONFIRMED. Not only is it a confirmed game coming for the PC but there are a whole slew of PC-extra goodies coming with the game when it lands this holiday season. Check it out:

  • Game Editor (for maps I am assuming).
  • Will be using “Games for Windows Live!”
  • Five (5) new chapters not in the Xbox 360 version.
  • One (1) new multiplayer mode.
  • Will work with Microsoft XP or Vista.
  • You will finally be able to fight against the legendary creature from the very first Gears of War trailers called the Brunak. (I probably misspelled that)

There hasn’t yet been a price announced but I wouldn’t expect anything over $50. As I said before the game will launch this holiday season. I, personally, can’t wait to get my hands on it. Tune in all throughout the week for E3 PC gaming news!
