So how did you like that Crysis demo? Personally, I thought it was one of the greatest demoes I have played in what seemed like forever. The island the game places you on is lush, vibrant, and very open. It seemed like I could go anywhere and do anything in the game, until the last part of the demo were it teases you with the notion of fighting one badass looking alien. *sigh*
Well, there is good news for Crysis-lovers and hackers alike. Apparently, you can unlock the ability to fight some of the aliens as well as allow access to vehicles (tanks, helicopters) that were not previously accessible before. So for those wanting to test out the game a little bit more before the due date in a couple weeks, now you can. Enjoy!

When I say unleashed I seriously mean unleashed. The game’s demo was recently released (on Friday) and over the weekend I decided to give it a test run. The download is big, first off, about 1.8 gbs big. Also you’ll need a very powerful computer to get this game running properly. Don’t be fooled by the minimum specs, this is a hardware testing game, and it shows.
I cant comment much on the demo, thats for you guys to find out yourself, however I will say that the graphics far surpass anything I have ever seen a game do, whether it was on the PC, or a console. The sheer amount of detail in the game was awe-inspiring. At times I’d find myself just staring vacantly at the distant mountains looking at all the detail. All of this was on the medium graphic settings too. Not even my custom-built gaming PC could run the game in all it’s glory.
If there is ONE demo you are gonna try this year make it Crysis. The game was absolutely a blast. The AI is very smart, and the game is very challenging. There are no “levels”, the world is open and you are free to roam around as you please completing your objectives. No FPS gamer will be disappointed by Crysis.

Is almost available! It is actually so close I can smell taste see it on the horizon waiting there to fix our multiplayer FPS rompings. This patch is actually a very very good thing, as when the game launched there were more than a few bugs that needed to be addressed (despite it still recieving favorable review scores). Coming with the patch are:
- Full voice communications support w/ full USB headset support as well.
- Better game balancing where the pistol and blaster will have increased accuracy and the shotgun and nailgun will have increased firing rates among otherthings.
- Refined Fireteams and Stopwatch mode.
- User interface improvments including “softening” up the Instant Messaging client and adding more features to the server browser.
- Upgrades the bots so theya re more enjoyable to play with.
- Hundreds and hundreds of bug fixes.
Just to name a few. As you can see this is one serious patch and hopefully will make the game shine that much more brightly in an already dark sea of FPS games.

Just happened upon this! Over on the official unofficial Crysis Demo website is a nice countdown that is slowly ticking down to the very second when we can download the demo of one of the most anticipated games to ever come out on the PC. Exciting stuff, really.
For those who don’t remember the demo was delayed from September to October 26th. Anyways its probably nothing. Download the demo tonight (or should I say tomorrow morning?).
Check out the countdown HERE.
UPDATE: This is NOT an official page from Crytek or EA games. Apprarently its just a fanpage. Sorry for any minconceptions about the demo. . . Enjoy it tomorrow when it launches.
And he LOVES it! Well love is a strong word. He generally liked Episode 2 and thought Team Fortress 2 was a very polished game. However, the whole love affair between ZP and The Orange Box comes straight from Portal. He absolutely had nothing bad to say about the game and even admitted that he loved it. Shocking words coming from the man who it seems hates every videogame ever created (except for Half Life 2 apparently). In anycase the video is well worth the watch. Enjoy!

Well just two demos actually. As of sometime late last week (I forgot to report on it), both the demos for the highly anticipated FPS deathmatch game, Unreal Tournament 3, as well as the less anticipated but still anticipated nonetheless action FPS game, Timeshift, were unleashed to the public to be gobbled up and critiqued by the general populace. It is a dog eat dog world out there.
Both games promise an awesome experience but also different. UT3 is your typical deathmatch multiplayer game where you run, gun, and shoot everything you can possibly find at your opponents. Timeshift, however, is a more story-based FPS where you get to actually control time, rewind, fast forward, etc. You use these powers to complete your various objectives. The multiplayer is also promising the ability to manipulate time via time bubbles. Very interesting stuff.
You can download both of the demos HERE.
Most people were thinking that this would be the game that would require them to upgrade their PCs in order to play. I admit, even I was worried that my *newly overhauled computer might need a bit of tweaking. However, despite what GamesRadar, IGN, Joystiq, and other predominantly console-loving news websites say the specs really aren’t that unreasonable. Check em out below:
Official minimum specs
RAM: 1GB for XP/1.5GB for Vista
Video card: DirectX 9.0c compatible
OS: 2.8 GHz or faster for XP/3.2GHz or faster for Vista
Official recommended specs
CPU: Intel Core Duo with 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
RAM: 2GB
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS or similar
OS: XP or Vista
As you can see, any serious PC gamer (especially someone interested in Crysis) will already have, at the very least the minimum specs. PC gamers are persistant. . . we love to have the top-notch equipment ho-humming along in our towers. Granted, no oridinary Dell or Gateway will run this game but what serious PC gamer buys a manufactured PC anyways? It is much cheaper to build your own.

It wasn’t too long ago that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadows of Chernobyl came out, brought to us by GSC Gameworld. For this simple reason alone it is amazing that they are already in discusion with CVG about their next upcoming prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Skies. For those that don’t know the original game took years and years to develop and was constantly berated as being nothing but vaporware.
In anycase, CVG got an exclusive interview with Anton Bolshakov the project manager. In the interview they go over DX10, exclusivity to the PC (hurrah!), in addition to some new faction gameplay mechanics. It’s definitely worth the read if you enjoyed the first game. I know I did.

You know what’s fun? FPS and RTS games. You know what’s even better than those? A combination of the two. Although very very rare, every once in a while a developer will come along with this idea. Even then only about a quarter of the titles actually make it into production, and then not many actually make it out the door after that. Its a rare breed of video game. Luckily for us we have Savage 2, a game that is very much promising that type of gameplay. One person will control the battlefield as if he were playing an RTS, while other players will be on the ground via a third person or FPS view. At the very least it sounds interesting, right?
In anycase, you can try it out today if you want. All you have to do is goto their website and pre-order the game. It really isn’t too much to ask, and a lot of developers are doing this nowadays. Best of all, since this is a self-published title, the game will only cost you $29.99, 20 dollars cheaper than what you’d expect to pay for a title such as this!

One of the very best things about the Fallout franchise is their unique perks system. Every few levels your character would get a perk (some being hilarious) to add to his roster of skills. They were almost entirely beneficial, as opposed to the traits.
Now Bethesda has announced their own contest where you can design a perk for Fallout 3. If you win the perk will be implemented into the game, but thats not all. In addition to being a part of gaming history you will also get to enjoy one of these two grand prizes:

Your choice of an ATI or NVIDIA video card
Logitech G15 keyboard
Logitech G9 mouse
Logitech G51 Gaming Speakers

Fallout 3 t-shirt
Vault Boy decal
or
Console Grand Prize:
Xbox 360 Pro
Logitech G51 Gaming Speakers
Vault Boy bobblehead
Vault Tec lunchbox
Fallout 3 t-shirt
Vault Boy decal
