BioWare/LucasArts New Project!

kotor.JPGSo, a couple days ago LucasArts and BioWare came out and announced that they were working together, again, on a new unnanounced project. Naturally, millions around the world over took this to mean that they were making an MMORPG based off their Knights of the Old Republic game. I don’t think so. You can read why I don’t think so HERE.

So what could this possibly mean? Naturally there are a few franchises that LucasArts owns that BioWare could take full advantage of the most obvious being the Star Wars franchise, again. Could they possibly be making a Knights of the Old Republic 3? Yes, however they could also equally be making a game based on Lucas’ other hit franchise, Indiana Jones. The fourth movie is in production now so they may be wanting to release a hit game along with the movie. Of course my guess is as good as yours. I’m just throwing ideas about.

New PC Games this Week! Halloween Edition

hglgfwpftfron1tboxart_160w.jpgExciting week this time around gamers! Not only do we have my personal pick for the month hitting the streets this week, Hellgate: London, but we have 4 other sure-to-be great titles also hitting the shelves. This week officially starts what is going to be the most video game packed month in years. Seriously, November is gonna be packed. Anyways onto the list:

Nice list huh? I already have Hellgate: London pre-ordered so that one I’ll definitely be playing on Thursday (got big plans on Halloween, I’m afraid). In addition to Hellgate: London I also plan on picking up The Witcher, which looks amazing and then if their is time (and money) TimeShift, whose demo was actually very fun. All in all its a good week for PC gamers. Enjoy the feast.

New PC Games this Week! 10/21/2007 Edition

jeri_pack_pc_us_rgbboxart_160w.jpgNew week, new games. Blah blah blah. . . we should all know the drill by now. Every monday I post the brand new spanking games you’ll be able to enjoy on your PC and this week we have a couple good’uns and a couple bad’uns. Take em or leave em. Enjoy the list below:

Not sure if I’ll be picking anything up this week. Obviously the strongest title is Jericho and it does look fun but still I’m not really feeling it, y’know? In anycase the 2 xpacs we have this week will surely sell to those who loved the original games. Enjoy!

I’m BACK!

eforall.jpgHey guys, sorry I haven’t posted anything in a few days. I have been at E for All in Los Angeles. Normally in those situations I’d end up just writing news at night but I was so tired each day that I usually just crashed.

In any case, I am back and will begin the normal schedule. There were some really really neat things that were showcased at E for All and I’ll be writing about those in a bit.

Zero Punctuation Reviews The Orange Box

And he LOVES it! Well love is a strong word. He generally liked Episode 2 and thought Team Fortress 2 was a very polished game. However, the whole love affair between ZP and The Orange Box comes straight from Portal. He absolutely had nothing bad to say about the game and even admitted that he loved it. Shocking words coming from the man who it seems hates every videogame ever created (except for Half Life 2 apparently). In anycase the video is well worth the watch. Enjoy!

Enviromentally Challenged! PC Gaming Edition!

greenpc.jpg

In an unusual departure from what we usual blog about here on PCG:I, we have decided to bring up an important issue not only to your PC but also to your world. In conjunction with Blog Action Day, we have decided to provide some helpful hintsĀ on how to green your PC. Most of the time people don’t realize just how much power the PC uses, when it probably uses more energy than anything else in your house, even your television. This goes doubly true for gaming PCs which usually rely on power supplies with 700W+. Check out the list below:

  1. Hibernate. This is probably the easiest thing you can do to green your PC. Set up a hibernation mode that occurs when the computer sits idle for 10 minutes.
  2. Turn the PC and monitor OFF when you are not using it.
  3. Try not to overclock your processor. Usually it doesn’t add that much graphical prowess and yet wastes much more energy.
  4. Do you really need 2 Nvidia 8800 GTXs? The SLI feature, while debatable in performace, definitely takes up more energy. One graphics card is enough.
  5. Recycle, recycle, recycle. Done with that PC? Do not throw it away, instead recycle it at a known electical components recycling plant.

These are the five easiest things you can do to help green your PC and at the same time, help green the world. Less energy usage means less strain on the planet.

New PC Games this Week! 10/14/2007 Edition

furymmo_pc_us_rpboxart_160w.jpgA decidedely less exciting week than last’s, but still packed nonetheless. This week we bring you a total of seven games for your enjoyment. Most seem to be not-quite-so-bad either, which is definitely a good thing. This week we have chosen Fury as our cover game. It is obviously the biggest title this week and shows a lot of promise over what traditional MMOs bring to the table. Anybody who likes PVP should definitely check it out. Anyways onto the list:

Exciting week. The only surefire title I’ll be picking up this week is the Heroes of Might and Magic 5 expansion. I love those games and this one is coming with a lot of extras, including a new faction and an alternate upgrade to every unit in the game. A welcome departure from the traditional HoMaM formula. Enjoy!

EA Acquires BioWare/Pandemic

ealogo.jpg

Shocking news hit us yesterday. Well not to terribly shocking to PC gamers, this was much more shocking to consoles. In any case, EA bought BioWare/Pandemic studios yesterday. While both of those companies are much more prominent in the console industry nowadays they have given us PC gamers quite a selection of games in the past, most famous of which was probably Knights of the Old Republic.

The amount EA bought the two studios is said to be at or just about $800 million. No telling what will happen to the two studios, although knowing EA, they will be forced to multiplat every one of their games to every system known to man. Mercenaries 2 port for NeoGeo anyone?

New PC Games this Week: 10/07/2007 Edition

orangebox2pcboxart_160w.jpgWe have a big big week. This will probably we one of the bigger weeks that we will have for the entirety of our holiday season, and it is no slouch either. This week we have Half-Life 2: The Orange Box as the number one title to own this week. Personally, I already preordered the game off of Steam and have been messing around in the Team Fortress 2 beta for quite a while. The game seriously takes the cake for best teamed FPS multiplayer. An absolute blast. . . Check out the other titles as well.

To be honest, one of the most exciting parts about the Orange Box isn’t the fact that it contains 3 games in one box, it is that it comes bundled with a puzzle game called Portal. This is probably one of the most unique looking games I have ever seen and it looks great. There is no question in my mind what game I will be getting this week and I am pretty sure the general gaming populace would agree.

New PC Games this Week! 09/30/2007 Edition

quakewars.jpgA new week a new batch of games. To be honest, I am not exactly thrilled with this week’s batch of games. Obviously, Quake Wars is the top dog fo0r this week, but its also not really a game that seems like it would appeal to me. Especially since I am currently enjoying the Team Fortress 2 beta (the game is brilliant by the way). Check out the list below:

And that’s pretty much it. Not many releases this week, although we still did better than the PS3, but thats not really saying much these days. I probably won’t be picking up anything. . . shame that is.
