Guitar Hero III to PC!

So, here’s something I thought I’d never get to report on during my stay at PCG:I. . . apparently our fair platform will be graced with the Guitar Hero franchise, and not just some re-hashed old game either. We are getting the same one as the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360. . . shocking, I know.

The game is being ported by Aspyr (Stubbs the Zombie) and is expected to ship with a simultaneous ship date as the console versions! *gasp* This is all a bit much to take in. PCs don’t ever get these types of games. . . For those planning on picking this title up you can expect to find your own USB-enabled Gibson-themed guitar waiting at your local gamestore. The game comes packed with 70 songs and WILL feature online play between PC and Mac users. No word on cross-console play yet.

New Thrillville Game in the Works

thrillville-ign-1_1147451926.jpg

According to IGN, LucasArts is bringing their quasi-popular rollercoaster building sim back to the game consoles and, more importantly, the PC later this year in their second edition. For those that don’t know what Thrillville is; it’s a rollercoaster tycoon game that allows you to have a more personal interaction with your customers and allows the ability to make some truly insane rollercoasters. Seriously, you don’t even have to abide by the laws of physics if you don’t want too.

The original game never came out on the PC, which is odd because this time of game usually ONLY comes out on the PC. I just don’t see the game working or being as much fun on any other system. Good news, though, this version will be hitting our platform. Worry not, coaster-holics, you’ll be able to pick this game up sometime later this year (although don’t be surprised if it gets knocked back).

Russian Space SIM!

tarrchronicles.jpgIn Soviet Russia space SIM plays you! Nah I’m just joking around with you. I assure you despite this games *non-Soviet Russian ties it won’t be able to play you. I don’t even know how that would work. Quit daydreaming! Anyways, GameSpot has highlighted a little known game from the game developing Mecca we all know and love, Russia! Being brought to you by Kvazar Studios is Tarr Chronicles, a space combat simulator.

The Tarr Chronicles takes place in a universe where an alien race is at war with the human race, who subsequently, has to run from them due to overwhelming forces. With humanity surviving in a fleet looking for a new home, its your job (as well as your fighter ship’s) to protect them as the aliens find you. The story is actually remarkably similar to that of Battlestar Galactica, which is a great show.

The game promises to have at least 60 customizable ships available for the player to fly throughout all the missions. The biggest problem with ths however, despite your fancy ships, you won’t be able to fly them with a joystick. I have no idea why this would be, but the space SIM gods have made it so. For those interested in such a game look for this one to hit the shelves in September.
